I've been to Texas twice and I ran into far more white people who speak and understand Spanish than I ever have in California. Inter-marriage between whites and hispanics is more common in Texas too.

Right. I am referring to Asians in huge numbers where English is the "second" tongue. I pointed out on another thread that a visit to the Los Feliz Costco means never hearing English spoken until the cash register [Chinese\ Tagalog\ Spanish\ Armenian\ Russian, etc]. If someone comes to California thinking that "American" means English-only then they will not survive. When she meets her first Korean speaking fluent Spanish than the posters will understand California.

Excuse me, please understand, I only speak English. I was born and raised here, this is my country and home, guess I never had the opportunity to learn another language. Which language am I supposed to speak? To accomodate immigrants who somehow manage to come here, take our jobs and/or swell our assistance rolls, I'm so sorry I don't speak every version of whatever mishmash they throw at me. Of course, asking them to speak the language of the country they came to is asking too much, isn't it?

If someone comes to America thinking their own language is all it takes, they won't survive

It's a free country. You are free to speak English, for me, I do business in Tagalog.

Unless so many of them come all at once into the same region that they take over and their language comes to dominate. That's LA in a nutshell.

I agree with you there. What was good enough for immigrants of the 1800s and 1900s should be good enough for immigrants of today!

Seriously, don't come to California. You already have too many hangups & absurd misinformation. You will end up resenting people & find your circle of friends non-existent. Texas Republicans are not a good match in California, sweetheart!
