hey dudes me and my best mate want to move to LA from the uk. does anyone know how to do this?

ive spoken with the american embassy and they say i cant get a visa unless i get a job within the job catagories specified. none of which i think i fall into. now i do work for forensics in english police..so surely i can do a similar thing?

anyone got any ideas how i go about it? do i need to get a job before i get out there? or can i get a visa somehow without the job? i want to live perminantly so need an immigrant visa. there is so much info on the web and im a bit baffled by it all.

can anyone help?

thanks! helen x

Well, the sad truth is much of America is anti immigrant these days, and it has nothing to do with European immigrants. We have so many illegals living in this country that we clench up real tight when confronted with the question of anyone's immigration. And that really isn't right. I mean, if anything our government should embrace immigrants who already show the potential of being great assets to our country. And being that you want to come legally and establish yourself as a citizen eventually, I see no reason you shouldn't be able to come. Job or no job, I'd take the chance if you really want to live here.

I am moving your thread to the proper forum now so you can get some answers from people who actually live in LA. Have a good one and good luck

My three wishes before I die. (I've thought about these very carefully).

1. That Zac Efron and I run into each other in Starbucks in Toluca Lake.
2. Zac Efron asks me to marry him; ceremony takes place in spring on the beach.
3. People wanting to move to the US from the UK do a search before posting.

Happy Valentines day.
