Looking for suggestions on "which side" of the causeway to research for available homes. Both our kids will be in High School; although both have high marks on greatschools website - Im looking for any input on choosing one over the other. Thank you!

You can't go wrong with either of them. I went to Mandeville High many years ago, while Fountainbleu was being built. I remember everyone freaking out about who would be sent to the "new" school...it was crazy. People were having their psychologists/therapists write letters to the schoolboard explaining the emotional trauma it would cause their child to switch schools. That was back when Mandeville was so small town. Fountainbleu panned out to be a great school, just like Mandeville High. There might have been a mishmash of different community cliques at Fountainbleu at first, but now that so many new subdivisions have been built in the past couple of years, the school is socially and academically solid. Although Mandeville is my alma mater, I would probably live in the Fountainbleu district because I like the housing options better. It is just a matter of housing preference on this one. Good luck in your decision.

Check out this link. It's for the LA Dept of Education website and will give you access to the most recent published data for the schools. It looks like one is a tad better on paper. It seems like either will serve you and your children well.

(select St. Tammany Parish and then click "Find" , the list will come up)

Default Thank you!

Thank you both - I will check out the link. We will get a chance to see the area next weekend, but the schools will be closed. Any additional help would be much appreciated.. (benefits of one side vs the other of the town itself).

We are also moving there and decided both schools (FB and Mand) were too large and opted for private school (there are several options). It is a popular option there, if you can swing the costs.

We moved to Mandeville two years ago, and have 3 children in high school (and one in Middle). We had this same dilemma. Great Schools gives them the same ratings, so it truly is hard to make a choice. We chose Mandeville High School and we LOVE it. Our daughters came from a private school setting, so this was a move to a much larger school and their first public school setting. There is something for everyone at this school. I have gotten to know many families who have children at FB, and they seem just as satisfied. In the end, the elementary school quality in Mandeville (fantastic) was the deciding factor, as we have a younger child as well. Having now lived here for two years, I must say that I enjoy living in Mandeville. It is affordable, great access to everything, and very beautiful.
