Anybody have any info on Ringgold, LA?
We are looking at property in that area, Minden and Sibley also.
Any insight, good or bad?
We have small children, so info on schools and communities would be helpful.
Thanks!

Just curious as to why you're considering Ringgold? Is it a job transfer? If so, I'd say live in Minden and commute to work. Or consider Shreveport-Bossier, 20-30 miles down I-20. You're going to find that Ringgold is just a one-horse town. Very nice country place, but there really is nothing there. I believe your closest Wal-Mart and decent shopping and dining options will be in Minden, and even in Minden those things are few and far between.

If I can be of any assistance to you, just ask and I will help you the best way I can.

Ringgold, huh. I have been there a couple of times for football games. It is a VERY small town. Nothing there at all hardly. I don't think they even have any fast food chains. No Wal-Mart either. If you don't mind a commute, I would probably pick a different location. You would probably have to drive somewhere else to do your shopping anyways, because small town grocery stores tend to have slightly inflated prices.

However, if you don't mind a small town atmosphere then Ringgold is the place to be

We currently are renting in Bossier, and have been looking for a house to buy. We found the perfect place (for the right money) in Ringgold, but don't know the area. We just moved to Louisiana less than a year ago from Texas. Small towns don't bother us, we are more concerned with the elementary school, community, crime, etc. We just need a safe place for our kids while we live in this area. We plan on being here for the next couple of years and then moving back to Texas.

I have a son and I wouldn't want him going to school in Ringgold. There is a reason the money is right on the house. The area sucks!

ringgold is not a area that i would suggest bringing a child into, well known for drugs, and i am moving my children out of this area, i grew up in that small town, and it is not the same now, you can watch the teenagers on any corner selling any drug you choose, minden is a wonderful area, and very good schools.. from someone who lives in the small town, take my advise and look somewhere else if you have children at home,,

I'd definitely choose Minden over Ringgold. Ringgold school does not have a good reputation.

If you can find a place in Dubberly or Sibley, those are smaller towns that have good schools. Particularly Dubberly's elementary school is supposed to be a really good one, and I think the kids from both Dubberly & Sibley go to Lakeside Jr. High/High School, which is less than 10 years old and very nice supposedly.

My husband's grandma lived at Ringgold for many years; I wouldn't suggest moving there at all. Very small, lot of crime for a rural area. I'd go to Shreve or Bossier.
