Well, we have Cajun Country (predominately Catholic, very laid back) and North Louisiana (predominately Protestant. Generally laid back except on matters of alcohol ). Which of the two interests you more ?

IS there a particular size in small town that you are looking for? Jobs? Hurricanes are something to consider as well.

North Louisiana has little hurricanes, I live there-- however, you may miss out on the natural Louisiana elements South Louisiana has.

Here are some cities in North LA to check into: Minden, Ruston, Farmerville, Winnsboro, Sterlington.

Here some cities in South LA to check into: Eunice, Crowley, Hammond, Mandeville, Thibodeux.

Northern LA is safer from hurricanes. However, it's also lacking in the traditional Louisiana culture and natural elemnents compared to South LA. In the north: Ruston is a college town and therefore has more amenities than some others. However, you also have a ton of college kids which may or may not be your thing. You may also want to consider one of the rural suburbs of a larger town like Shreveport (Haughton, Benton, Greenwood, Mansfield) so you have access to an airport, shopping, etc when you need them. Then again, if you're really just looking for a small town, that may not be an issue for you.

Why do you want to live in a small town. Why not live in a big city and give your kid all the opportunities that a big city provides?

Not that there is anything wrong with small towns, but by and large there are many more opportunities for education, employment, and enlightenment in cities.

I live in Farmerville which is not too bad! Ruston and Monroe are nice as well! I have not lived here long enough to know about the rest.
