I am considering moving to the Louisville area. I am looking in Jefferson County and Oldham county (which appeals to me very much - it is beautiful and looks really safe). I was curious as to how hard it will be to meet people.
If I move here I won't know anyone. How in the world can I meet people! Of course there will be my job - will I be "accepted" since I'm a northern in Ohio near Cleveland-area? Also, how about meeting girls? I would like to meet a girlfriend too! I just want to know how to make myself fit in this area if I move here. I want to make this move really bad but I'm afraid I may never meet anyone and won't have the chance to go out and have fun.

Also, what a good cities to live in near Louisville, let alone good areas in Louisville itself? Please let me know, and try to assure me that I won't have any issue meeting people. I don't wanna spend a saturday night sitting and home sad I am not going out and doing anything

I lived in Louisville (Jefferson County) for several years and it is a pretty good city. Oldham county is good as well as Bullitt County. The surrounding counties are getting more populated as Louisville grows larger. This is a city in growth. When I left there over a year ago, the city was talking about building a new arena. The job market is good for 20 somethings - UPS and Humana comes to mind. Newcomers are welcomed - because my husband is in the military, I've also lived in Tenn, NY, NC and NJ. I've never had a problem in Lousiville. As for meeting people, there a lots of avenues - through YMCA recreation programs, leagues, church, volunteer or just hang out. People are pretty friendly. Because it is a growing city, there is crime like anywhere else so do be careful as you would anywhere else. Nice weather begins early as March but usually in April. Usually beautiful by Kentucky Derby time. Hot humid weather in June, July and August. Usually mild weather until late Dec-Jan. My kids usually wore short sleeves and shorts on Halloween. Jan and Feb are usually the grey, cold weather. Several colleges and universities are there and the taxes are really low compared to other states. Good luck!
