Just another poster thinking about moving to Louisville!

-Where you are working Would be downtown
-How much you are willing to spend on housing $750-950
-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate as short as possible, less than 30 minutes
-If you have kids: Private school or public school? 2 little boys, not in school yet, but will be public schooled
-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight? We want to be able to go for walks, walk to the park, library if possible. Quiet neighborhood would be nice. My husband would definitely prefer a smaller town feel.
-Community amenities important to you. parks, sidewalks, libraries

We would be wanting to rent a 3-4 bedroom house for about $750-950. We'd love a fenced yard for our inside dog to go out. I really don't want a long commute.

My biggest concerns are cost of living, commute, safety. TIA!

You can find several locations with many of your specifications; however, at this moment, I cannot think of a perfect match for all in one place. You won't have the very best education simply because you'll be in Jefferson County, but I might try Lower Brownsboro Road. Basically Zorn Ave on the east, I-71 on the north, Mellwood to the west, Frankfort Ave to the south.

Thanks Tomocox. So do you think it will be possible to find a rental home in our price range in that area? Are there any good schools without a huge commute?

Thanks again

20-25 from nearest Oldham Co residence. You may find a $750-900 rent in Peewee Valley

Please note that Jefferson County has a... *unique* student assignment plan. Look here for more info: JCPS Parents And be sure to search this forum for more info on the JCPS school district. It's might be difficult to get a short commute to downtown along with good schools, depending on which school your child ended up being assigned to. Again, please be sure to research the JCPS school district before you make a decision.

Thanks!

It is good that we will be renting and my older son will not start k for more than a year, so if we do end up somewhere where we are not happy with the schools, our lease will be up in time. But we are sick of moving! So hopefully we get it right the first time! thanks again
