Louisville city taxes (Lexington: construction, taxi, income)

Anyone here notice they began taxing your gross income - i.e. pre-deduction income?

It started late last year but I still can't believe a city would go to such lengths to collect money. It's wild seeing a stub that has a taxable income split out between the city and everyone else. LOL, even the fed takes a back seat.

I suppose we are paying for all that downtown construction...........

As has every city in America. I dont think it has lost 1/3 since 1970 though. Maybe since 1950. Louisville never even got above 400k by 1950 in the old city (and was listed at 260k in 200), which was a tiny geographic area. If you broke Lexington down into the older parts and newer, you would see the same deal.

The difference is all of urban & suburban Lexington has the same tax rate. Only the surrounding farmland has lower taxes.

Even though Lexington is growing a large percent of population growth is now occurring in surrounding counties where taxes are lower
