At this time, I know of none. There was discussion of a rail connection between Louisville and Ft. Knox at one time, with connections on to Elizabethtown... Not sure where that is now w

CBaltz - you're right...positive friendly encounters are a HUGE difference from making friends...Louisville is the friendliest area that I've lived in....and after 5 years I still don't like being call 'Sweetie' - I never will...unless it comes from a close friend or my hubby...but making new friends can be tough as this area is not huge on transplants...(again it's all relative) and so many people grew up here and have their own social network..,it can be difficult if you aren't one of these types a) church goer or b) live in a subdivision....if you don't plan on subscribing to one of these then try joining a Mom's group off of Meetup.com or take up an interesting hobby that would serve as an introduction...good luck! Also...some areas seem inherently more social and therefore lend themselves to grounds for more friendship making...Oldham county has less areas or opportunity to randomly meet people that might share the same interest...areas like the Highlands or Clifton Heights/ Crescent Hill/St Matthews are more walkable and have local cafes and restaurants bookstores to peruse and maybe strike up a new friendship...

A rail connection would not be worth the time of construction and expense IMO. Commuter lots (slugging as Northern VA residents call it) and express buses would be much more feasible.

Personally, names like honey, hon, sweetie, etc....those are personal and, at least for me, should be reserved for people who know me, not complete strangers. But I do understand that's just the friendly nature of the people in the area. My husband is considering a move here...and I'm not all that crazy about the idea (I HATE hot, humid summers....even Northern Indiana summers are awful and I hardly go outside if I don't have to!) but it's nice to know that people are so friendly.
