Hello all,

I'm just wondering if most of the state today (Saturday, February 24) is affected by the dust blowing from the PanHandle due to the high winds. The newman said it's the red dirt blowing from Lubbock.

Anyway, I live north of Waco about 45 miles, and it is just awful here. It is so weird looking outside and the vehicles are having to drive with their lights on because the visibility is so bad. The sun looks like the moon today.

I haven't seen this happen for many, many years. There is a very dusty smell outside, so I've been staying in. No one needs to breathe it.

I was just wondering how much of the state has been overcome with dust or what areas haven't been.

It's supposed to settle when the sun sets as the winds are supposed to die down tonight.

The red dust storm is here in south central OK as well. I think it looks cool. The western part of OK is famous for its red earth. Around 4:00 pm I was in town and a lot of people were checking it out.
Do it again!

Yes as well, from Abilene. We thought it was a totally cool experience. I see I-20 from my kitchen window and the trucks a travelers were driving the same as always. Boy was it windy and red/orange! My pool went from blue to brown! -Having fun here in the wild west!

Yes, it did. They even had to cancel many flights at DFW due to the winds and dust. The news guy said the dust should even get to East Texas.

im in Dallas, and the dust was TERRIBLE here. the sky turned orange, and the wind blew down trees. It was like that for probaly 3 hours, then it went away. I thought it was pretty cool most of the time the dust stays in west texas, but it did not yesterday!

I live in Abilene but happened to be in Dallas on saturday. The wind damaged roofs and fences in Abilene and even demolished a 100-foot sign outside of a hotel near the mall. It blew into Dallas very quickly around 2pm and made things pretty miserable. Not fun.

It was NASTY!!! I've seen this before as it happens every few years here in Dallas. I was up in McKinney when it got really ugly. All of the bare land being developed up there really helped to stir up even more dust and dirt. There was a neighborhood in Allen that was hit pretty hard w/ shingles coming off, supposedly they already had a problem w/ their roofs and the builder is not helping. Possibly class action lawsuit now against the builder and shingle manufacturer according to last nights news. Today is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! 77 and sunny w/ very low humidity and a light breeze. LOVE IT!!!!!
