10 minutes? That can't be right. 20 in good traffic, I'd say. Expect 25-30 unless you're using a helicopter portage service.

Lol, yeah I meant in best possible traffic I suppose. Haven't been out that way in awhile, takes darn near an hour just to get from east side to west side.

It's not the West Side, but there are some apartments near that price range just east of Monona Dr- Cottage Grove/Buckeye Rd areas on the SE side of the city with convenient access to the Beltline.

Took me 30 seconds on Google. Between Midvale and Gammon, north of the Beltline and south of University is where the OP should look. The far west side/Verona/Middleton are all more expensive, so is downtown, but there are still older buildings tucked away on the west side that are affordable.
