I am moving to Madison and was wondering about the church life. I know by the threads that Madison is "hippie, liberal" and the like but was wondering if there is any spiritual life there. I don't have a preference in denomination but tend to like more gospel/contemporary christian music as well as the traditions shared by those who have come before me. I also like diversity. I would love to be a part of a church with great community and outreach. I plan to live on the east side but am open to other areas, because it is my dream to be able to walk to church!! I am hoping to visit a recommended church for their Good Friday and/or Easter Sunday Service.
Thanks!

Sounds like you would like Lake City Church or Mad City Church.

Megan1967 gave you two good suggestions. You may also like Fountain of Life (mult-cultural), Blackhawk (large/contemporary westside) or Door Creek (contemporary eastside). There are plenty of other churches to connect all over the city, both denominational and non-denominational, large and small. Don't be fooled by naysayers - there is a lot of relevant spiritual life happening in Madison.

St. Paul's is rather upbeat, with folk music. They are a traditional Catholic Church in other ways. They are also extremely diverse, culturally and racially. They are located on State St. not far from UW. Bytheway of what is you faith background? This could also help us to help you.

Thanks for the responses. I haven't decided yet but will, by tomorrow morning. Colbalt, I was raised as a fundamentalist baptist, but I have worshiped at various churches in the Protestant faith as well as Catholic.
