No really....I do. I bought my house in the winter and suspected there was no driveway because it had only been used summers and winters for a cottage get away. So now I need a drive way and of course I am on a posted road for 2 more months. Until it dries up are there any ideas or suggestions....planks? Plywood? Or are there smaller trucks around that are legal on the roads?

A state highway engineer said, "The three most important factors in road design are drainage, drainage and drainage." You can make your project happen much sooner by having some site preparation done by a local neighbor or contractor. Water must naturally flow away from your driveway. If water naturally flows toward your driveway you need to give it an escape route by ditching or placing a culvert to allow water to drain.

It isn't June yet. That's when roads become stable in much of Maine.

Default posted roads

There are a number of landscapers or contractors who have the smaller equipment such as the 3yard dumps instead of the 6-8 yard trucks and use tractors with buckets to back drag the gravel. In this town I can have gravel delivered in the smaller load with no problem.
Best to check with the contractors and the town road crew to make sure.
