Not a sit-down order from the waiter style restaurant. I mean a burrito wrapped in paper or foil that I can take to the park. And a burrito that actually tastes good.

And no, Taco Bell doesn't count. That doesn't qualify as "food," much less "good food."

The only places I know of that you can get a *decent* burrito are sit-down type restaurants.

Bruce's Burritos on Route One in Yarmouth. They are great! Not too far from Brunswick!

http://www.brucesburritos.com/

Grab a couple then take Willow Street (Off Route One Northbound across from Hannaford) Left on East Main St. to a right on Bay View Street then a quick right after the 295 overpass to the Yarmouth Town Landing road for a nice place to have a picnic lunch overlooking the harbor. DW and I have lunch there quite often on sunny days! There are picnic tables and a chemical toilet!

34 Water Street in Eastport. Best Mexican food (totally authentic) north of Boston. Maybe further.

I second that. It's called Bank Square Pizza.

Coming from California that is one thing I kind of miss in Maine is the lack of Mexican food.

When my cousin from California visited he said the same thing. He puts hot sauce on EVERYTHING! None of us ever use it and the Maine stores don't even carry the good brands. He was not happy. Had he stayed a week longer he was going to have his wife Fedex him his favorithe hot sauce. When he was looking for hot sauce to put on fried clams I knew there was something wrong with the whole picture. My theory is he can taste ONLY the hot sauce at this point so he thinks everything is tasteless without it. The stuff he found here was mega hot to me but he thought it was middle of the road. I'd be willing to bet it has something to do with Maine being 3000 miles from the Mexican Border that keeps the Authentic Mexican food in Maine to a minimum.

I left California long ago; so I got away from eating salsa with every meal.

After having lived East and West, North and South; having owned a home in Scotland, and doing 3 years in Italy - Kosovo; I think that I have developed tastes for other things outside of Mexican-food.

On occasion when I do visit California again it is nice to get some of it

Cancun in Waterville is very good, but it is a sit-down place. Still, their prices can't be beaten!

I, too, vote for Bank Square in Eastport - fresh ingredients, authentic Mexican food done right by a true Mexican cook, none of that tex-mex stuff.
