I just spent $22.99 a pound at Red Lobster for a Rock Lobster verses a Maine Lobster. Can someone please enlighten me, and in Maine would I pay as much? I know these questions are probably elementary, to you, but to me it's quite profound. Thanks friends.

lobsters around here are 6.99lb live

rock lobster is not a maine lobster but a warm water lobster

The rock lobster is another type of warm water lobster. Officially a member of the genus Jasus, there are six separate species, including the Cape rock lobster, Red rock lobster, and Southern rock lobster.

The rock lobster is found in warm waters around the world, including the coast of Australia and New Zealand.

Like other warm water lobsters, the rock lobster differs from a true lobster (such as the Maine lobster, from the genus homarus) in that it lacks claws, and has noticeable antennae instead. Similar to the Spiny lobster, the tail meat of the Rock lobster is often sold frozen or canned as an inexpensive alternative to true lobster tail.

this is why RED LOBSTER didnt make it in maine---they tried selling lobster tails from warm water lobsters that tasted funny to us,,, and they were expensive
