Ok, so the holidays are all over, and we have all settled down from celebrating with family and friends...and the next few months of plunging temperatures and still-not-quite-long-enough days can make Spring seem like a lifetime away

So how 'bout it, Friends.....can you share some interesting, fun and perhaps "uniquely-Maine" places to go, and things to do for folks to break the spell of the winter doldrums? (No matter what their age, location, ability, or income)

From all of us transplants, and those yet to arrive..

No time for cabin fever here. Between inside winter sports, piano lessons, youth choir, skiing, snow shoeing, sledding, snow removal and the always present farm chores we don't have time to be bored.
I'm still looking forward to that long winters nap.

I used to go tanning. Albeit, I am not a tanning type person and already dark complected. But I find the light, heat, and smell of the sun tan lotion feels like a day at the beech. The past couple of years I have gone to a warmer climate. Both though could not be considered uniquely Maine. For that I do not of any excape from the cold short days of winter...so what I try and do is visit some of the same places I requent in the summer.......good hikes, Portland Headlight ect. I just try and appreciated the different look each season brings to a particular place

The Patriots still have 2 games left! Don't forget about them!! GO PATS!!

But ya, bowling is fun. And lots of bowling alleys have arcades with air hockey, which is also fun.
I enjoy quilting during the winter months. And reading. Always reading.
Winter is when we usually catch up on all the movies we missed in warmer weather.
Cooking is always more fun in the winter.

Fly a few years ago I hiked in Phippsburg in winter---it was gorgeous!! Bates-Morse Mountain down to the beach (Popham).....take snowshoes if you've got them, otherwise it's gonna be deep...but on a crisp clear day it's just beautiful!
