Another Maine Institution Gone (Portland, Woolwich: sale, appliances, yard)

Everybody has seen these roadside attractions. This was Dots in Woolwich.

From appliances to fixtures; collectibles and antiques. One man's junk...is another man's treasure!

For those unfamiliar with the state, these type of businesses have dotted (pun intended.) the countryside forever, it seems. I've done a lot of business here, over the years.

Thanks for posting the link, I didn't know about this happening. I remember The show Tim Sample did on Dot's good deals and watching it, then having to go check it out. Lots of interesting stuff.

This is too bad, many people from Maine know about Dot's good deals and anytime anyone said they where looking for something hard to find or recycled you'd say "Just go to Dot's good Deals" in Tim Samples, Wicked good Maine accent. It was just something fun to say and now..... I hope things work out for her and she can re-establish.

There are a bunch of these places like "Dot's" around. Elmer's Barn in Windsor comes to mind. They are interesting places to look around. There are also those who attempt to do the same through the perpetual yard sale at their house. They cover the entire lawn with junk and call it a yard sale....problem is the yard sale never ends and it looks like a dump! Towns have been cracking down on sume of these ratty looking "yard sales" and forced the clean up of several of them. Good!
