Welcome to Maine! We are also transplants from Mass and love it here!

I will caution you on the job front. My DH has been looking for a year and a half.

Anyone got any secrets on how to get a job in the Dexter area? I have heard conflicting stories. Some say you keep bugging the company until they give in and hire you, some say send your resume or application and step back as they will contact YOU.

Thanks!

DO NOT wait for them to contact you. You will be waiting for a loooong time. Unless is specifically says not to contact them, you should. Just give them a call and ask if there is any update on the position being filled. Its going to show that you arent just sending your resume out to everyone and seeing what you get. Its showing that you honestly are interested in that job. Also check out the state run Career Centers. Even if you arent on unemployment you can use their services and resources to your advantage. Good luck!

Warpedg, Thanks! He'll keep plugging along. It seems like everyone is related to everyone else and that's what's keeping him out. Sigh... With unemployment being what it is, I can't say as I blame them but he NEEDS to get a job (read I need him out of the house!)!!!!!!!!

Thanks again!

Try the Lewiston Sun Journal. I haven't read any news of layoffs at the SJ and they are independently owned by the Costello family. They publish several weeklies in addition to the their daily newspaper. Weekly newspapers in Maine are thriving (I work for one ) and contrary to what's been said you can make a decent living at a weekly newspaper!

Maine is great. There are plenty of small towns just outside the Lewiston area. There are papers and then there are the little weeklies. My mom wrote for a paper in Ma. where I grew up. Great job. Sounds like you two are very creative folks.
