Okay my fellow Mainers. What do you all think of the current "Nanny State" of affairs this state seems to be partaking of? Am I off the mark when I seem to see a near lunatic-paced frenzy of others telling me what's good for me and what's not?

I'm not very good at following the rules. Some make sense. The rest...pffft.

I agree...a big pet peeve of mine is the inflexibility of some of the rule makers. Reminds me of the line: "Rules is rules."

"Becoming" a nanny state? It's been one for years now, but has definitely gotten worse under the current administration.

Seems to me that if "their" rules were so great and "they" had followed their own rules we would not be in this boat.

True, very true - it always has been one, but wow...lately it seems one gets nagged ad nauseum now.

I think the legislature spends more time worrying about my health than my pocketbook. Yes, I'm well aware that healthcare costs a lot, but considering I rarely go to the doctor other than an occasional physical (and there are many like me) I consider it a flies directly in the face of "freedom."

You don't HAVE to wear a PFD on a boat either unless you're under 10. (Okay you may have a point.)
