I'm going camping here in a few weeks with some friends.

I've never been camping before.

Can anyone here tell me what Hermit Island is like?

Thanks!

It's a nice small campground, right on the ocean at Small Point. There's a nice sandy beach right there (with a small snack bar) that most tourists don't know about as the more well known Popham Beach State park is so close, the tourists most often go to Popham instead. Just near by is Morse's Mountain, a short walk up and then back down the other side to another small sandy unpopulated beach. Just be aware that Morse's Mtn will not allow dogs on the trail or beach. I'm pretty sure there is a small store at the campground as well.

Happy camping! Bring your poncho! (aka rain gear)

I went camping there about 10 years ago and it was great. The campsite was within ocean view and there were hiking trails to go exploring which lead to great views and small sand beaches. One thing great about camping so close to the ocean is the breeze helps keep the mosquito population in check, which means it can also get cool so bring sweat shirts and pants just in case.

We're also avid bike riders. Are there any bike trails around?

Not sure about trails but they will sure come in handy for getting around the island.
