I'm a new grad from Michigan that's having difficulties getting a job in my state (Michigan has nearly NO teaching job openings in my subject). I have an interview for a Maryland charter school (CMIT Academy) tomorrow, and I'm wondering if anyone has worked there, has worked at a Maryland charter school, or can give me any advice or information about it. I know charter schools are not the best environment for teachers, so I'm a bit nervous. I really need a job for this fall, though.

Furthermore, if this school is in Laurel, what are good places to live near there for a woman in her early twenties on a limited budget? (Safety is an important factor for me)

You are from Michigan. Would you take a job and live in a Detroit suburb being concerned about your safety? Compare the demographics of Laurel to a suburb you are familiar with, then ask yourself if you would live there. Use this tool to find a good place to live, even if it's not in Maryland. I have been using it to look at where I might want to live when I retire and won't be needing a job.
