Hello Everyone - I am a first time poster. My family of four will be moving from Dutchess County NY to Maryland due to a promotion I have received. I will be working on Irving Street in Washington DC (my husband will also be working in DC). We have a 6 and 12 year old so schools are important to us. We plan on renting for a year or two until we get to know the area and then we plan to buy. Our budget is $2,000/month for a rental and have found nice places with good schools in the Odenton and Arnold areas...is 50W a good route for commuting into DC? We would like to be less than an hour away from work. Your insight/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If you are going to Washington Hospital Center/VA/Children's Hospital complex, take 50 to Montana, north to Franklin, west to Michigan, L or R, depending on where you park. Takes me about an hour from 10 minutes beyond the Bay Bridge, without heavy traffic. Rush hour... you can imagine!

Alternative is take S Dakota to first left after crossing Bladensburg road. It turns into Franklin shortly after the left turn.

The Crofton/Gambrills area might be good for your commute as well.
