I will be working in California MD and my wife might get a transfer to work in DC. Where can we relocate that is midpoint between both area. We plan on renting for 1yr then buy a single family home. We would like somewhere quiet and not too expensive. How about La plata, White plains, Huntingtown. We looked on the map and they seem to be the midpoint. Please help.

La Plata or Hughesville I would say is the most likely midpoint between those 2 places...

Hughesville is very nice. I'd move there in a heartbeat.

Dunkirk is in the middle of nowhere (which explains lack of apartments)....though it is very nice n quiet out there. And yeah I guess it is about halfway between DC and Cailfornia MD....about 30 miles from both. Prince Frederick MAY have some apts there but it's not what I would call halfway... it's much closer to California MD.

Just a word of warning before you commit to living in Calvert County and working in St. Mary's...

You'll have to deal with the Thomas Johnson Bridge issues crossing over the river at Solomons--it's NOT a pretty sight during rush hours, or inclement weather. At times it can add an extra 30-45 minutes to your commute. Both ways.

Kara
