Does anyone do this commute? I am thinking about taking a position with the science museum, and would need to drive to the light rail station in Hunt Valley, and take light rail into Camden Yards, then walk.

My concerns are:

1. Parking spots will run out early in the morning on weekdays at the Hunt Valley train station - they only state they have 85 spots there.

2. Walking from the Camden Yard station to the inner harbor will be crazy cold in the winter months, long, and perhaps dangerous?

Thanks for any input!

Ginny,

Except for special events, there is an abundance of parking at the Hunt Valley station and even if you get there at a reasonable time, you won't be scrambling for a spot. I have never had trouble finding a decent parking space at either station and they are well patrolled by the MTA police.

My suggestion for you, however would be to make Timonium your starting point instead of Hunt Valley, as you will shave a great amount of time off of the train ride. All of those little stops between Hunt Valley and Timonium, and vice versa take about 15 to 20 minutes. However, that's up to you. I will say that on a night I may feel like stopping by the Hunt Valley Towne Center after work, I will just park there. Other than that, I park at Timonium.

As for the walk to the harbor from the Camden station, just bundle up, but overall, it's not a bad walk. If I'm not mistaken, you can use the elevated walk from the convention center to the Harbor, but I may be wrong.

I second the idea of using the light rail from Timonium. There is a lot of parking there due to its proximity to the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

I think the station you'd get off at is Convention Center rather than Camden Yards, but otherwise the walk would be similar.
