I really hope someone on here can help me. I am moving in about 4 months and I have gotten the most responses on Severna Park as being the top place to live and with kids also. I am 23 years old, working in a health care setting and I need a decent area to live. I was thinking about Annapolis but was told that that was not a great place to live, especially on West Street and near Curtis Bay. I'm not sure where these places are though. I want to find something in Severna area but I need some ideas on some places to rent that accept Section 8. I prefer to rent a townhome, preferably three levels. Can anyone tell me where some great rentals are in this area or nearby. Thanks

Sorry, but I doubt you will find much Section 8 in Severna Park. Your closest bet might be Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Fort Meade or Brooklyn/Curtis Bay. Good Luck!!

Rob is correct. Anywhere that's going to accept Section 8 is going to be a rough area.

Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't necessarily say that anywhere that accepts Section 8 is a rough area because where I live now on the Eastern Shore accepts Section 8 and it is very quiet, everyone stays to themselves and there no crime there (at all). I know your probably thinking then why don't I stay there then because I would think the same thing. But I am moving and with the Section 8 voucher, you can re-new it once a year. I'll going to look in Annapolis/Glen Burnie/Ft.Meade area. How is Ft.Meade anyway? I haven't heard nothing about that area?

There are some areas around the army base that are nice, however you have some other areas (particularly on the back side of Ft. Meade) that are pretty rough, and unforunatly that is where you will find the majority of section 8 eligible housing.

There is an area called Severn, where you might find Sestion 8 houseing. Severna Park is a different area, where it is very doubtful that you will find Section 8 housing. Annapolis is a great town to live in...you just have to be careful which neighborhood you live in. Curtis Bay is Baltimore, not Annapolis.

I think that the section 8 program has a list of eligible properties. You should be able to contact them to find out which properties are available.

NOt necessarily but I've seen Section 8 ruin many previous nice areas such as Gaithersburg. I've heard that Dundalk has started to go downhill somewhat in recent years because of section 8 attracting people from the city. College Park has a couple blocks of Section 8 and that area is known for drugs and crime and muggings. I don't think you want to live around Section 8 neighbors anywhere.
Curtis Bay is in Baltimore City, in the southern part of the city. At least the Baltimore Sun doesn't mention a lot of murders there so its probably one of the ok parts of town.
