I just put an offer on a home in Severn, Md by Meade Village Road (fairbrook ct) of 174, the home is so beautiful but I just found out that up the street is section 8 housing. I am not trying to be judgemental but I am worried. Any thoughts?

Yes, especially if you have school aged children. It took my friend 3 years to sell her house in that area.

retract the offer, hope for a counter and walk away, or find a way out of the contract. Head south to look for a home. try Arnold, Severna Park, or Cape St. Claire. w/ or w/o kids you have to think resale in the future!

Thanks, I heard that Severn was a good area but even though the neighborhood looks nice I am worried about the surrounding areas.

There has been quite a large post on Severn last summer - you might want to use search on this forum. We've also put an offer on a TH there, but later found some information about the drug crimes and other issues in the area (look up Pioneer City). Fortunately, we were able to withdraw.

There are some areas with single-family homes that seem somewhat decent, but overall it's shady. Airport noise also might be a problem in some parts of the town.
