Hello all!

My family and I are considering a relocation from Tucson, AZ to somewhere in MD.

I will be working at the Washington Naval Yard until 2011, when the office will move to Ft. Belvoir, VA. My husband is looking at work in Aquasco, MD. So we need a nice area somewhere in the middle.

We were looking at the Camp Springs/Clinton area. This area would be roughly 30 min commute for both of us once I worked in Ft. Belvoir. Until the move, I figure I can take the Metro to the Naval Yard.

Is this a nice area to raise a family? We have a 2-yr-old son and plan to have more children in the future.

How are the schools in the area?

What is the crime rate like?

Are there any nice Daycare Centers in the area?

Thanks for the input.

Feel free to add any other bits of info that I didn't ask about too.

Kris

I would suggest Accokeek, Brandywine, and Upper Marlboro in southern P.G. and Waldorf, White Plains, Hughesville and La Plata in Charles County. They are within 30 mins Good schools in both. Most would tend to lean toward Charles county for schools. Crime rate in both areas are good.

Please do yourself an enormous favor and stay away from Montgomery County, the traffic is terrible, the rent is sky high ,and the people are rude and self absorbed. As for P.G. county, there is a serious crime problem there. Charles or Frederick county would be a better pick.

Clinton, IMO not a great area. While the commute would be harder, I'd second jayman1981's suggestions.

I have lived in PG County and Montgomery County.

I would like to highly discourage moving to PG county, it is not the best for the kids. Montgomery County is much better north of Silver Spring. But judging on where you are working and the awful MontCo traffic, Charles County is a much better idea.
