OP, that is not a roach. It looks like some outdoor bug.

There's a clear separation between the body and head of the bug in the OP's picture. Roaches have less separation between the head and body. I'm not a bug expert by any stretch, but even though the photo isn't crisp, there are clear differences between roaches and the bug in the OP's photo.

Remember too that roaches are nocturnal insects. They don't show up during the day unless you have a severe infestations. They also leave behind odor.

I grew up spending quite a bit of time during summer vacation times following my dad as he organized the contracts and planned the rehab of old brownstones rental apartments in the South End into renovated high end condos. If you think you have seen "infestation", you have not...until you see some of those old brownstones and their conditions, and the BILLIONS of roaches they harbor. I know those very little ones are the worst (they are usually in the trillions...just countless numbers), but the medium sized ones are very very fast and they stink. I used to be a real tomboy and played "who can squish the most" with my shoes and my rubber gloves covered hands made into pounding fists...I always beat the boys. They are disgusting but when you are young, you are far less squirmish about these things.

That bug is not a roach to me, at least from the picture. But the best way is to catch it, even if it is dead, and put it in a little jar and show it to an exterminator. Killing them is very satisfying to me

It's not a cockroach. Maybe a boxelder bug, they go for shady areas when it's warm, including homes

that looks like a palmeto bug which is what Floridians call their flying cockroaches to make themselves think that they're not really cockroaches.

best way to tell if it is a roach is to pick it up and sniff it to see if it smells like Raid
