We are comparing townhomes in these two cities, same price range (hyde park (canton is more expensive), but weymouth one is bigger and has extra bedroom and big basement. The one in weymouth is located near south shore hospital. Given the both which one is better in terms of location, activity for kids, schools, commute to boston and as an investment.

Should we settle for weymouth and after 5 years move to good school district suburb??

or

But in hyde park and not move after 5 years?? Hopefully the value appreciates,

Please advice, if you were in my situation which one would you choose and why??

I'm totally confused - are you saying that you are trying to decide between townhomes located in Weymouth vs. Hyde Park (Boston)? Or is there a townhome community in Canton called "Hyde Park"?

Sorry for the confusion, yes there is a townhome community in Hyde park (boston), although the address says it comes under canton suburb. And there is 5 unit townhome property in weymouth. We are comparing these two places,

Thanks,

that is strange- Milton and Dedham border Canton. Hyde Park is actually close- there is the area near Sprague St. that is about 1/2 mile from the border. I go to the area frequently with work but have never seen townhomes- it's mostly industrial around there......not really a place I would consider living, but that is just me.

What street is the townhome located on?

Okay, I looked it up and it seems to be a new complex in Canton. Did your realtor confuse you maybe? Anyway, as long as it is not Hyde Park, then I would say that you would probably be better off buying in Canton vs. Weymouth because the schools are better. There are some nice parts of Weymouth, but you said it was in a congested area, so...

just looked them up in Canton. I personally would never pay that much for a townhome. I think there are hundreds of better options....

I agree with you, NY. It looks to be an area behind the cemetery off Randolph Street, so it should be fairly quiet, but it seems like a lot for a 2 bedroom condo.
