I currently bank with a large, commercial institution but am looking at going local. Does anybody have any recommendations for a local bank or credit union on the south shore? I'm located in Quincy if that helps. Thanks!

I think there's a "Quincy Credit Union", have you looked into that?

Years ago, we had an account with Wollaston Credit Union. They were pretty good.

I was going to recommend Quincy as well. Here's a full list of credit unions with links:

I'm a big fan of credit unions and local banks. Personally, I like to have my savings/checking accounts at larger banks for the convenience of the larger ATM networks (I know many CU's and smaller banks will refund ATM fees but I'd rather not deal with it at all). I go to CU's and smaller banks to take out debt (mortgage, car loans, etc.) because I find they're more personable and easier to deal with.

Rockland Trust - Big enough to have many (if not all) of the conveniences of larger banks, but still local.

I second Rockland Trust. I have been with them for years and I always get good service.
