Anyone with experience dealing with special ed programs in the public schools in the towns south / southwest of Boston? We're considering a move to Medfield, since it has one of the best school systems in the state. Does anyone know anything about their special ed programs? How accommodating they are? Or perhaps any other other information on towns that are good (or bad) when it comes to special ed services for a child with mild autism/PDD?
Thanks!

Medfield school system is outstanding. I don't know about special ed but I know several people with special needs kids in the Medfield schools and they're all very happy. I suggest you go to the Medfield Public Schools website and find the name of the director of pupil services and talk with her. Inclusion is a big thing and it starts with the preschool which is an integrated preschool (with lottery for kids w/o special needs). The district just started an integrated all-day K class, too.

Since the elementary schools are divided up by grade (k/1 in one school, 2/3 in another and 4/5 in yet another) they are really able to focus on age appropriate curriculum, library materials, special needs, etc.
