My son is home from school and we need a vehicle to get to him to his internship until August 19th. Is anyone aware of any long term (one month or more) deals in the Boston area? I'm not impressed on what I've seen online thus far. Enterprise advertises a Month or More program but when I call the number they list on their site they don't seem to know what I'm talking about.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off if your son is under 25 the rental rate will be astronomically high. It might be cheaper to have him take uber from the closest public transportation.

What were you hoping to pay? It's definitely less expensive to rent away from Logan airport.

Hertz Local Edition in Burlington looks to be about $750 for an economy car for a month.

Thrifty in Revere is about $900.

Enterprise in Peabody is about $1200.

Thanks - I wasn't entirely clear. I would be driving the rental and he would drive the car that he is covered under our insurance policy but I will investigate Uber. The one time we used it was expensive.

Thank you! The Hertz in Burlington looks promising and we are short ride down 128 from Waltham.

Honestly I would look hard to find a used car for under $5,000. You can probably get most of your money back when you sell the car and with only one month you won't have to worry too much about long term reliability. I would recommend looking at craigslist and seeing a mechanic if you want to be 100% sure that the car you want to buy is reliable. A year ago I sold an SUV that I bought a year before that for $2000 more than I bought it for. Lower gas price and spending 300$ on DIY repairs allowed me to make money from a 12 year old gas guzzler.

For a car they only need until August 19th, that makes zero sense. Registration, inspection, title, insurance.... They then have to unload the car on August 19th.

My corporate discount at a major rental company is $160.91/week including tax for a full size car (Alima, Camry, 200) or $10 cheaper for a compact I'd be miserable driving. That's the same as the insurance company rate.

Was quite a few years ago, but Rent-a-Wreck was pretty cheap. Believe they're still around.

Many car dealers have deals with local rent a car companies like for when ones car is in the body shop for an extended period. If you have a dealer you know or have done business with, contact them and inquire.
