Well, there have been more and more shark sightings and it's at the end of summer when the water is warmer. It's not so surprising. When I still lived around Newburyport we were getting a lot of seals. Seals attract sharks so it's probably just a matter of time there too.

I think the water at the Cape is slightly warmer than it used to be. Warm water attracts sharks. I learned that a long time ago at the Cape when we used to go at the end of August. But I never actually saw a shark. Is the water warmer now than it used to be in years past?

It's usually warmer in August. My husband has a friend who surfs in Truro. I'm sure it's not him but I bet he knows the guy.

I'm not sure but this was the first shark attack on the Cape since 2012. Both this and the 2012 attack happened in Truro.

Numerous shark sightings have been reported in the area this summer, including several involving great whites, the species immortalized in the "Jaws" movies. There was no confirmation that Wednesday's attack involved a great white shark.

This guy is 61. Is that the age of your husband's friend?

Two attacks on humans within seven years. That's not TOO bad.

Don't swim in the same water with the prey of large ambush predators.

Glad the guy is ok.
