Don't you live in Northampton? What is the deal with this? It does seem a little bizarre.

I do. Tempest in a teapot, IMO, but I'll investigate.

So: what I'm hearing about the trip is that it was about training the chief of police in anti-terrorism. It was indeed funded by the Anti-Defamation League. Regardless of funding, since we don't have any terrorism in Northampton, and are not likely to have any, I'm fine with the chief not going.

Disgusting. But typical "Happy Valley" thought...

Any word on why it was cancelled?

Israel's anti terrorism policing involves profiling and extreme vetting based off of race and religion. I understand why teaching MA cops that would be controversial.

And any way there might be other reasons other then political ones why cancelling the Israel trip would make sense. Israel is far, going there is expensive. I'm sure closer departments, like the NYPD, have anti terrorism experience.

All of that was in the article.
