Found some threads, but they are rather outdated. Looking to diversify my beer selection and figure a thread other than politics, schools or housing might be good for a change (or die with three posts)

Right now I'm a big fan of Lord Hobo Brewing, and my garage fridge is stocked with a few of their selections. I've had beers from other local breweries such as Night Shift, Lawson's, altruist, Tree House, Trillium, etc.

Looking for hidden gems or something new. Hate randomly picking so looking for recommendations on some other local places to try out.

Got some dirt cheap at my local store (think $4.99 for a 6 pack?). Not the best stuff, but certainly worth the price.

Mighty Squirrel in Waltham puts out an interesting sour - Sour Face. Not a big adjunct guy when it comes to beer, but they make a solid Berliner Weisse with kiwi and raspberry that somehow works. Hear they have a tap room but never been, and there's a rock climbing place next door, so you can make an afternoon of it.

If you're out that way, stone cow in Barre is a great hidden gem. Closer to Boston there are two great breweries in Framingham, Exhibit a and Jacks Abby.

Yes, Jack's Abby is good. They serve food there, too.

I'm firmly in the anti IPA camp... that said,
The two best locals I've come across are:
Cape Cod Red and Mayflower Porter.

Another vote for Jack's Abby. Hopponious Union.

I've had Altruist and Trillium. Good but not worth the hype IMO. Then again, I'm not a huge beer guy but do like what I like.

For the cheap stuff, nothing beats Miller High Life...nothing.

I dont drink booze, opps, "crafted brews"
Humans age in dog years when they drink booze. Booze, even crafted brew, rots your insides.

Dont get me wrong, i drank booze 4-6 days a week in college for 3 years, downing cans of booze in 12 seconds. Settling down in the fourth year to prepare for a career. But after college, perhaps no more than occasionally every 15 years. 1992 the last time in a restaurant on route 28 near Otis af base.

What is odd, many college colleagues that only occasionally drank booze in college, thought i would be the alcoholic later in life. They have turned out to have booze, opps again, "brew drinking problems'

Back to your, brew , talk.

By the way, i recall this, after the first sip or two, all booze tastes the same. Crafted or un crafted.

I like dark beer. And since it's winter I'll stick with the heavy stuff to fit the season. An old favorite of mine that's been around, but might be new to some people: Ipswitch Ale's, Oatmeal Stout. Another one I like is Magic Hat's Heart of Darkness...their take on a lighter oatmeal stout. Sadly Magic Hat has religated Heart of Darkness to a very limited run.

New England Brewing Company: Imperial Coffee Milk stout. This is a massive coffee flavored brew. One of my favorites.
