Why don't they postpone the trip?

How are they not violationg the 14 day quarantine by heading back to Logan for 3 days? And an airport is arguably one of the worst places to head to 3 days after arrival, compared to an outdoor restaurant etc.
Really - this kind of trip is a really bad idea in a pandemic!

And there are a lot of people who travel back and forth from Arizona and Texas to California. I wouldn't be surprised if the resurgence was due to that. Also, poorer communities have many essential workers and tend to live in closer quarters- is that what you meant by your racist "black and hispanic" people spread it in MA? Because you assume they are living in those towns? If you feel you would be safer and freer and richer in a red state, then by all means move.

They are, and they aren't.

All travelers to MA are urged to quarantine. That means arrive at the airport, head to your hotel room and stay there for 14 days. No going to the grocery store.

If they arrive and get a rental car and drive immediately out of state, then I would assume they are not in violation of MA's recommendation and now must follow the guidelines of whatever state their destination is.

The recommendation is very loose.

Just to be clear, there is no penalty. It's a toothless edict. I just would keep the fact that you are from Houston under your hat seeing as they are in the news a lot lately as a potential next hotspot.

Because as we all know those good enlightened blue staters in California would never spread it on their own, just like there was never a spike in MA, NY, NJ, MI...

The hypocrisy is really pretty mind blowing, like where Gov. Cuomo in NY cried fowl when RI was asking NYers to quarantine and just the mention of a national quarantine on the NY/NJ area when THEY were THE hotspot...now that clown is all a sudden for a quarantine on those from TX and AZ. Can't make this stuff up...

And let me guess, those MAGA hat wearing Republicans are the ones who spread it like wildfire around Chelsea, Lynn and Everett?

NY just put substantial penalties in place. I wouldn’t be surprised if MA follows suit. Beyond quarantine requirements and penalties, temperature scans and arrival forms for flights from hot spots (like Houston) aren’t out of the question.

Actually enforcing this would require measures beyond what people would allow. That's why we need a federal policy -- states would have to say NO ONE can enter the state prior to quarantining for 2 weeks. If they decide that you can't come from FL, well, you go through NJ first. Or PA. Or VT, MA, Ct... Then enter NY that way. How are you going to know where people are coming from?

And temperature scans are useless -- they're both over and under-inclusive.

Hawaii was able to do this -- enforce quarantines, since you basically have to come via air or boat. You have to enter through a port. But other states would not be able to do this.

I don’t think people driving in from Texas, Florida, Arizona or LA is a primary concern in the Northeast. However, states would be able to do this at airports and other points of entry. They are already putting plans in place in case it is warranted. Calling temperature scans useless is almost as foolish as calling masks are useless. Both have their merits.

Take a look at New York’s new regulations. There is a $10,000 fine for doing harm, which ostensibly would mean entering the region and spreading coronavirus. If current conditions in both in the Northeast and various hotspots around the country persist... Rhode Island is poised to join New York New Jersey and Connecticut In implementing new restrictions. Regulations with actual teeth. Tracking and enforcing them would be quite imperfect, but you may to see a real real attempt to do so.
