At some point, the NESN money machine and $100 seats at Fenway aren't sustainable. It's $206 million in payroll counting everything and only $115 million of that is going to players on the field.

I may change my mind but I'm planning to go my 2nd straight year watching zero NESN. I'll glance at box scores but I think I'm probably done with the Red Sox. I'll watch Liverpool through May 24th unless a miracle happens in Champions League and then give TV sports a rest until EPL starts back up mid-August and the Patriots begin regular season games in September.

The Red Sox are purely an in-person viewing experience for me these days. Not spending on NESN even if it means abstaining from Bruins play.

Now in my 30's, I'm realizing my love for baseball peaked in the '90's with Ted Turner broadcasting his stud Brave's bullpen on TBS, which came with every standard cable package. I recall watching the Red Sox on WSBK (TV 38), but that was seemingly short lived and during a period of NYY and Cleveland dominance.

Does anyone know what's up with Wednesday's game? Apparently it's not on NESN...and only being shown on youtube tv. Is that correct??

MLB and YouTube signed a 21 game exclusive package for 2021. The first is the Sox vs. Rays game on April 7. It's on regular YouTube so anyone can watch it.

That's what it appears. IDK if it has anything to do with the dispute between YouTube and NESN after YouTube dropped them? There are also new Covid rules for visiting teams' broadcasters, although I do not know the specifics on that either.

My baseball goes back to the 1967 Impossible Dream year. I was in 4th grade. I was at the last game of the season and a bit upset when my father wouldn't let me storm the field with everyone else. There was a midweek day game where they wheeled a TV into the classroom so we could watch the game. Every little kid did the Yaz bat waggle. A few years later, everyone pitched with the Luis Tiant glove shake and head turn towards 2nd base. I was in college when Bucky F'ing Dent hit the home run. In that era, the game was everywhere on AM Radio and it was part of the rhythm of summer. As an adult in the 1980s, you could still get walk-up tickets to midweek games and I did a lot of those. My interest started waning after they finally won the World Series and they turned into the Evil Empire, Junior.

Now, I'd much rather watch English Premier League. 2 hours. No commercials. It's not like the agony of a Matt Clement game with men on base.
