Does anyone have any experience with getting a ticket for an expired inspection sticker in Mass.?
A friend who had never been pulled over for anything in 15 years of driving got one today (inspection was due in December '08). The officer apparently told her that she can get the car inspected and appeal the summons and it will be tossed. Her understanding is that, even if the citation is upheld, her insurance won't go up for the first minor traffic violation offense, but she's not interested in losing her "mulligan" and would like to get the case tossed if it's possible .
I have no personal experience since I always get everything registered and inspected on time. (I also got my first car in December 2008
) From a legalistic perspective, it seems that getting the car inspected after receiving a citation, two months after the previously inspection expired, would not be enough to beat the charge. Does anyone know of cases where the court actually dismissed the charge because the problem had been fixed after the fact?

) From a legalistic perspective, it seems that getting the car inspected after receiving a citation, two months after the previously inspection expired, would not be enough to beat the charge. Does anyone know of cases where the court actually dismissed the charge because the problem had been fixed after the fact?
