I have a friend coming here to visit in a couple of weeks and he is gay. I am clueless to the gay club/bar scene here in Memphis. Can anyone recommend some places for me to take him so ensure he can have a good, safe time?

Is Backstreet is still closed, it was a giant dance club off of Madison? It closed for a while at least. Metro off of Cleveland is still open I think. There was also another gay bar near there on Cleveland (Mary's?) but I'm not sure if it's open still There is a place on Madison near McNeil that is a gay bar, but I don't know the name.
