Hello Everyone

Our new corporate location is now in East Memphis (Goodlett Farms) area and I am not familiar with this area. I am being proactive and looking into where we could hold our annual christmas party which consists of about 175 employees. If anyone could help me or send out some ideas on where to go from here that would be great.

Thanks.

We had ours at Stax. I know thats not really East Memphis...my BF works in East Memphis and they had theirs at a Holiday Inn conference room down the street. I recently went to an event at Chickasaw Country Club and it was pretty nice.

Several locations, depending on what type venue you want (dinner only?, music and dancing?) - and your budget...

Appling Manor - right around the corner from you on Appling Road just south of Dexter

Hillwood at Davies Planatation

The Peabody

The Holiday Inn on Central across from the UofM (my wife's HS reunion was held there)

Memphis Botanic Garden

Pink Palace

You need to decide soon though.....the best places get booked early for weekends in December

The University Club does a lot of this. Memphis Country Club also is used for group functions.

Appling Manor is a Montessori School now! I noticed that a week ago when I drove by (if we're talking about the same building, on the NW corner.) The place that used to be an italian restaurant years ago?

That's next door to Appling Manor...which is between the Montessori School and the FedEx building.

That building was originally an Italian restaurant (and I can't recall the name), then was Buntyn Cafe, then was Pete & Sams, then was vacant for quite a long time before the Montessori school opened recently. I guess a restaurant has a hard time succeeding in that area unless its right on Germantown Parkway!

Okay so it's a different building. I think that would be a great idea for an office Christmas party then. Appling Manor, not the school

I never quite understood either, why the restaurants could not stay in business. You'd think the Sunday (and Wednesday) traffic from Bellvue alone would keep it going!

Well, I never ate at the first place. Buntyn wasn't nearly the same as the original place on Southern. And I never have thought Pete & Sams was anything to brag about - even though lots of people think it's the best Italian food in Memphis. When you're that close to probably at least 30 restaurants, you better be good - especially if you're off the beaten track....

I've been to several corporate events at Jim's Place East and they always do a great job. I'm not sure if they can accommodate that many people, though.

Jim's Place

You may have to look into a hotel ballroom for that many people, but it's not my recommended option. Consider finding a place to accommodate your group and then hiring an outside caterer. The food quality would be much better than a hotel. I also suggest considering a weeknight instead of a weekend.

Good luck.

Riveroaks would be a good choice. Crescent club in the crescent center.
