The ambulance chasers are all over TV claiming that the anti-psychotic Abilify may result in compulsive gambling. It allegedly may also cause binge eating, but gambling is the primary concern. The drug somehow supposedly interacts adversely with dopamine.
I can see how a drug may lower a person's inhibitions but gambling? I mean in the general population, what percentage of people are at risk for that particular "vice"?
I take Mirapex - which is linked to compulsive sex and/or compulsive gambling. A drug affecting dopamine again.
What I wondered with the gambling - if a drug is the fire behind it would a 12 step program still help the "addiction"? could it even still be classified as that?
