Yesteday, Tesla announced a new gigafactory in Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon (part of Greater Monterrey): https://www.cbsnews.com/video/tesla-...ory-in-mexico/

With that said, it is expected that a lot of people will relocate to Monterrey, so the question is are you willing to relocate to Monterrey?

A lot of inmigrants from the U.S. have chose places in Mexico like San Miguel de Allende, Chapala, Puerto Vallarta, Baja California, Quintana Roo and Mexico City. So why not Monterrey? For instance, we have Del Valle neighborhood in San Pedro Garza Garcia which is similar to Roma, Condesa and Polanco neighborhoods in Mexico City, many american citizens like this kind of neighborhoods.

Also, Monterrey has a good quality of life and it is similar like Houston and San Antonio.

Last but no least, there will be a new highway La Gloria-Colombia and improvement of another highway Salinas-Anahuac that you can go and cross to Texas avoiding Tamaulipas, so it'll be great that americans can come around to Nuevo Leon by car/RV, not just by air.

I highly doubt many of the workers are going to be transplants beyond some managers and trainers with many not staying too long. The whole point of moving there is to tap into the talent and lower costs, not to mention the market.

Monterrey is not an attractive destination for expatriates mainly because of the weather and costs, there are other places in Mexico where living costs are low and the weather is much better.

Of course Tesla attracts hundreds of US engineers but I guess only temporarily as happened with the Koreans at the KIA plant in the city.

I didn't realize weather could be a big deal for them. Yeah, Monterrey has water and weather issues.
About cost of living, all places where americans have moved real estate has increased so much, rentals are in US dollars so I don't get that point but anyways.
We also have Saltillo (IMO an underrated city) which has better weather and cost of living is still slightly slower than MTY.
