Mexicans actually have nice cars and nice houses and nice families. They are not all drug dealers. I am a US Citizen, caucasion, I live down there and I cannot believe some of the ignorant comments and posts I am reading in this forum.
Watch your local news tonight and realize what is happening in your own neighborhood. Really pay attention to it.

I'd never go there alone.

I think many Americans never go further south than the dirty border towns and then base their opinions of the entire country on them. You have to go further into Mexico to see the beauty of it.

Yeah, we used to vacation way down, in Ixtapa, which was really nice and the people were nice. Much different than the people in the border towns. TJ, blech! Although, I haven't been to Mex since we left Ca in 2001, so alot could have changed by now!

Just b/c we border Mexico doesn't mean it's problems all come spilling into our county. San Diego is the safest city in America over One Million people and one of the safest big cities in the country overall. Considering our police to citizen ratio is about 1/2 the national average, we do pretty damn good for having so few cops.

Also another city that is one of the safest big cities in America is El Paso, which I doubt most people realize.

Honestly I think being on the border allows for some crimes and criminal activity that would otherwise take place here to occur in Mexico instead.

Get used to it on this forum..we have a large group that loves to bash all things Mexican here.

Really shows how sheltered some Americans can be.

Nope. Problems across the border are nothing new, and overall San Diego has been doing just fine despite this for a long time.

QUOTE: "With all the crime, drugs and related issues in Tijuana". You can just about substitute any city in the US for the word Tijuana and get across the same meaning. There is a large misconception due to the newspapers and TV News giving out all the hype. All large cities in US have Gangs, Drugs along with Crime being committed every day of the week. Mexico is no different as with other countries included. BASHERS have a small agenda and due not speak with complete knowledge as a whole. They may have had an isolated incident happened to them or heard or read of some bad news report and consider it to be gospel. Chances are they have NEVER spent a long period of time as residents or visiting various cities in MEXICO otherwise their knowledge is very limited. I have lived in Mexico 15 yrs and have visited and spent time in many cities thruout the country. Sure, there is some crime, thats why they have the Police just like the US does. All countries have a Police Dept as there is NO utopia around here. Stefhen
