OMG, I remember my first encounter with the palm tress. LOL

I remember them looking very exotic, green and clean; I felt so inferior back then. And yes, Miami (for a first timer) looks like a paradise - it's just that one, over the years, gets used to the tropical charm.

Big Itunes billboard of the Beatles is up near Port and US1. Nice and white and goes with the rest of the fauna around here.

I guess I'm still in the charmed stage as even my backyard seems like an exotic wonderland. I agree, Miami can be incredibly beautiful and interesting place to the newcomer. We've never lived around the ocean or with Palms before so Miami is tropical Island living for us.

It's funny things that you notice coming from somewhere else. I notice the tropical houseplants we tried to grow in Dallas, grow wild here. Or how the leaves don't fall from the trees in winter.

We all know the real deal on Miami by now, but nobody can say it's not a beautiful place with old world island charm.

Most people here in Miami don't appreciate real music such as the Beatles. They much prefer to listen to their reggeton with the same beat in every damn song along with their booming crap dance music.

Well - Miami can't get much of a higher compliment from more credible sources than Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr ..

"We got down to Miami and that was just like paradise ..." Paul McCartney

"This was just the most brilliant place I'd ever been to..." Ringo Starr on Miami

So to all the naysayers ...

hmm, careful with that generalization. i'm usually the first one to generalize about people in miami but once thing i've noticed is that people from cuba / south america tend to like the beatles quite a bit.

A couple other interesting Miami/Beatle facts.

The SECOND time the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show on CBS the show was taped at the Deauville Hotel in Miami Beach. This was in Feb. 1964. The Beatles were paid $3,500 for the performance.

Here's a link with a copy of the letter to hotel guests telling them they could attend the show for FREE. And the Beatles did NOT even get top billing for the show. The top billing went to Mitzi Gaynor.

No they don't, they just say they do because the Beatles are a cultural icon, just like Coca-Cola. The music itself means nothing to them.

People in South America (souht of the equator) do have a strong and big history of rock culture since the early 60's . Big South American cities have a bigger rock scene than any North American city besides Mexico City. And they are very diverse withtin their scenes. You can only say that about some cities here in America.

You are obviously talking about the caribbean, Venezuela and central America.
