Hi all. Just wondering what your thoughts are on favorite live music venues in Miami and SoFlo? You know...live musc? As in musicians, with talent? Remember those? Not DJs. Those can be found anywhere and everywhere. Thanks!

if youre coming from seattle you are going to be sorely sorely disappointed down here.
you mostly have to go up to orlando to hear american music and smaller acts dont get anywhere near this state most of the time.

You'd have to take a time machine and go back to the 1960's and 70's, that is the last time I heard decent music and I am not just talking Miami either.

Hi Coconut1. Mostly "current" music. Classical can be easy enough to find, but it seems that either I'm out of the loop or there's no interest in/demand for live music, regardless of genre, be it jazz, funk, blues, rock, metal, fusion...you name it.

I'm 40 now, and I used to be in a rock/blues band in my early twenties here (in Miami), and the live music scene between Miami and West Palm was huge and spanned multiple genres. I moved away for a while, came back, got married to an uncultured gal with no interest in live music, and got divorced. Now that I'm back out looking for good places to hang, have a few drinks, and take in some good live music, it seems all there is, with the exception of two or three places, is UNCE-UNCE-UNCE-UNCE-UNCE.

Did all the good musicians pack it in and move out of Florida? It's strange, because when I go to see well-known acts in many of the above genres at the large venues (AA Arena, Cruzan Ampitheatre, the Fillmore, etc.), there are huge crowds, which indicates to me that people in South Florida absolutely DO love good live talent, but there seems to be nearly ZERO interest in cultivating, supporting or appreciating any local talent. That's a shame.

Just wondering if there are a half-dozen decent places I'm missing in South Florida...?

You seem really bitter. There's still lots of good musical talent out there, it just seems to be lacking in Florida (especially South Florida). I love 60s and 70s music, too, but there's good current stuff out there. Open your ears.
