Has anyone seen the waves from Irene. I won't be able to. Take pics and post coastal people!

If you had posted earlier I would have directed you to the Windjammer Hotel webcam at Fort Lauderdale-By-the-Sea. I'm guessing that some of the sets were in the 12 to 14 foot range based on where they were crashing. The outside sets were breaking at least a pier length to a pier length and a half beyond the pier there!

I was out at Surfside today, waves were breaking about 2-3 feet and pretty cleanly to, with a light offshore flow. A handful of surfers out there. About a third of the width of the beach is eroded away, and lots of man-o-wars washed up ashore. Will probably take a few weeks to get all the sand back. Pretty impressive for a storm that missed us!

it makes no sense at all why we dont have an artificial reef offshore all our beaches to keep the sand from getting eroded away every storm.
