Well, there is the causeway I have to walk under, which is supposed to be pitch black after sunset, and the 13 mins of "you never know what's going to happen"... so I decided not to take my chances.

Just drive there if you can (assuming you're already driving to the Metrorail?). 7pm traffic towards downtown is not too bad. Think about it, if you're arriving there at 7:30 for a gig, when are you leaving??? I'm sure you know, Metrorail does not run often that late at night, so you'd have the walk and the wait for the train to deal with.

I wouldn't worry about the cops or even the homeless, it's mainly the thug types you'd have to watch out for...

Not that it matters now, but if you gave the intersection of the place you're going, there might've been an alternate route.

For instance, the MetroMover crosses the causeway and stops at the School Board station, which is on the edge of Overtown, so you could've taken the MetroRail to Government Center and then taken the MetroMover.

The "M" bus travels along NW 14th Street, and connects with the MetroRail at the Civic Center station (and also connects with the MetroMover at Omni). It sounds like your meeting was in the area of NW 14th Street because you said you'd have to cross under the causeway and it would take 13 minutes. The #2 and #21 buses look like they might also serve your destination if you're in the area by I-95.

That looks like it's just a couple of block south of the School Board station on the MetroMover. It looks like a desolate walk, but the #6 and #9 buses from Government Center leave you off at NE 1st Avenue/NE 13th Street, which is closer.

Well, you know for next time.

LMAO. You would've been fine in Overtown if you had an AK-47, bulletproof vest and the Nat'l Guard
