Miami-Dade commissioners will consider an application to allow business and office development outside the urban development boundary.
BY MARTHA BRANNIGAN

MBRANNIGAN@MIAMIHERALD.COM

Miami-Dade commissioners are set to meet 2 p.m. Wednesday to consider an application to move the Urban Development Boundary to allow business and office development on land currently designated as agricultural.
The application was filed by Ferro Investment Group II, which is represented by Miguel Diaz de la Portilla, and seeks approval to bring inside the UDB 9.9 acres of land at the southeast corner of Southwest 167th Avenue and 104th Street.
The commission will decide whether or not to transmit the application to the state for review. State agencies would then have an opportunity to weigh in on the proposed change to the county’s master plan before the commission considers the issue at a second hearing next spring.

Will they build a road to connect krome to 104? Krome is very dangerous anyway.

What are they gonna build? Condos? Homes? Strip malls?

Traffic is really bad in that area, and that's an area where a train would be sucessful. The buses in that area are very packed.

Well 9 acres is not really that big anyway.

Developed Miami-Dade is empty as hell, only 2 million people for such a vast area. No reason why they should expand west.

I saw a few years ago they had plans to build an expressway out to the boundary and then south. I really hope this gets shot down, we really do not need build out further.

If the UDB continues to be moved our quality of life will continue to deteriorate.

How in the world is Miami-Dade county empty? It is developed from Ocean to the Everglades. I hope they do not extend it. They need urbanization not suburbanization.
But this is 10 acres we are talking about. As long as there is no slippery slope thing happening here not a huge deal.

The problem is that first its those 10 acres than later its the 10 acres adjacent to the first 10 acres and so on. Next thing you know it is crossing Krome Ave.
