Thinking about taking a new job in the Doral Area (Miami: rental, home)

Hi Everybody,

We're a family of four with two elementary aged boys thinking about moving from CT to Florida. Obviously we're most concerned with schools and before we tried the private route, as products of the public education system, we thought that we would try the public one first.

We've narrowed our search to Pinecrest and Coral Gables, I've read through the boards and seen everybody's comments but the question I have is the listing prices of properties in the Miami area. It seems that there's a listing price and the eventual selling price seems to be significantly lower.

Since we're thinking about renting for a year, is it the same for rental prices? If a home is listed at $5K a month in Pinecrest, will it GENERALLY rent for somewhere around that or at a discount.

I say generally because I know that each situation is different. It is very difficult to get a feel for the market.

I've not heard of people negotiating on rent prices, right now demand is high for rental properties in Miami.
