I am taking my 19 year old daughter for a quick vacation---maybe 5 days. I need to find a nice beachfront hotel, good shopping for clothes, and I want to be safe. I think Miami would be a lot of fun for her---I have not been there in years though. What would be nice, fun, and safe?

If we went there, would it be worth it to drive down to the Keys?

Stay in South Beach. And yes a drive to Key Largos John Pennekamp State Park is worth a day trip

Yes, stay in south beach within 3 or 4 blocks of the beach. Key Largo is a good day trip. If you want to drive all the way to Key West then stay overnight there, don't try to go there and back in one day.

You guys will have a blast in Miami Beach. It will offer everything you're looking for and keep you busy for a few days. Not sure the keys are really worth it if you're only here 5 days. The drive is too long for a one nighter. Explore other areas of Miami instead. Bayside. Maybe take in a Heat game. Coconut Grove for sure.
